Sandrine (Sophie Quinton) is 20 years old and dreams to one day open her own beauty salon in the "black country" town of Montigny. When a local beauty pageant opens its door to contestants, Sandrine"s ambitious mother pushes her to enter, seeing it as an opportunity to become locally famous and secure a bank loan for the salon. However the road trod by mother and daughter is never smooth.
